I understended, that UK is a powerfull country and economy, first because they economy depended by they trade in which they called the ¨laissez-faire¨which means to leave alone the people and to be all apart from the goverment. Margaret Thatcher Britain's prime minister from 1979 to 1990, called back the ¨Victorian values¨which means to return the power to the state, Embracing free trade would encourage producers and traders. It would stimulate competitiveness and innovation. From the ensuing economic growth, everyone would benefit.
In the age of Gladstone and Disraeli tax flourished what become the mainstay of goverment for another century.
'By the middle of the 19th century government policy in Britain came as near laissez-faire as has ever been practicable in a modern state.
Taxes were raised because of the war, and Victorian Britain was a country of growing state intervention. The Industrial Revolution meant much bigger towns and huge population increases, urbanisation and population growth did a lot of problems. The doctor J P Key said the key problems; the state of the streets affect the health and a debilated race will rapidly multiply.
